Dialogues With Urban Context
The first project of the second year of the BA(Hons) Architecture degree was the design and development of an artisan bakery within the existing Beechurst building, that responds to both the social and historical context of Poole. Various issues were identified with Poole high street ranging from a distinct misuse of space to a lack of character within the architecture and no sense of community. The curiousity shop is a sensitive and subtle solution to this that responds to an analysis of the urban landscape and modern day social requirements of Poole’s inhabitants.
