Dialogues of Use and Form

BA (Hons) Architecture, Unit 552 Dialogues of Future Scenarios explores the important of space and paths within a city and how space can be used more efficiently to create a better connected network of paths and a city that acts as a self-sustaining organism. In the near future where more than 80% of the worlds population is estimated to live in cities these spaces must become areas that live in symbiosis with nature to ensure its sustainability. There are many different architectural theories such as Traditional Urbanism and Walkability that discuss the importance of the development and change of cities to suit the growing and changing needs of the world. This project explores these ideas and draws them together to epxlore how a city can re-connect with its traditional, natural roots whilst also maintaing its social and modern daily life routines. Combining modern new technologies such as vertical farming and energy efficient suspended railways the city can become a self-sufficient and sustainable entity.
